Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of two gold wings conjoined, the right wing folded over the left wing and forming a loop encircling the upper shaft of a vertical gold arrow in front of a blue keystone.  All above a blue scroll bearing the inscription "FLIGHT SUPPORT" in gold letters.

Symbolism
Blue and gold are used for Aviation.  The keystone alludes to the Keystone State (Pennsylvania) headquarters of the Battalion.  The wings wrapped around the arrow symbolize the close support and readiness in furtherance of their basic mission.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved 22 January 1969.

NOTE:  This Battalion was never authorized a coat of arms.
